The Craig Elsten Sports Podcast is here!
Join the Mighty 1090’s Craig Elsten each week as he goes in depth with a new guest for long-form personal interviews, while also sharing thoughts on the San Diego sports scene. It’s all accompanied by original music by Bobby Cressey.

Podcast #1: Ted Leitner.
You’ve known him for decades, and likely you have loved or hated the work of Ted Leitner. Certainly, “Uncle Teddy” cannot be ignored. Known as the bombastic TV face of San Diego sports throughout the 1980s, Leitner has also been The Voice of San Diego Padres baseball and SDSU athletics, as well as the Chargers and almost every other pro sports team in town.
Leitner was the choice for Pod #1 because The Mighty 1090 wanted to kick things off with someone who definitely had more than a couple of stories to tell. And boy does he ever. The pair talk about Leitner’s childhood, his college years in the Midwest, the rise to fame in the ’80s, the turbulence along the way and his current place in the San Diego sports scene, including the need to eulogize two dear friends in 2014.
Also on Pod #1, Elsten talks about his 25th New Year in San Diego and how 2015 has a slightly different veneer of hope than just the usual optimism.
