Sergeant Michael A. Berryhill

Sergeant Berryhill was born in Kankakee, Illinois. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2006 and attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD), San Diego, California. After graduating recruit training, he attended Marine Combat Training (MCT) at Camp Pendleton, California. Following completion of MCT , he attended MOS “A” school at NAS Pensacola, Florida, for Aviation Mechanic. Upon completion of “A” school he attended “C” school at NAS Lemoore, California, for F404 Intermediate Level Power Plant Mechanic Course where he graduated top of his class and was meritoriously promoted to Lance Corporal on 02 July 2007. Upon completion of his training he was assigned the MOS 6227 F404 Intermediate Level Power Plant Mechanic.

In August 2007, Sergeant Berryhill reported to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron (MALS)-11, Marine Aircraft Group-11, 3D Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Corps Air Station Miramar. He served as an engine mechanic and Collateral Duty Inspector in work center 41U and was meritoriously promoted to the rank of Corporal in December 2008. In September 2009 he was assigned to engine test facility work center 450 where he served as a safety observer for F404-GE-400/402 engine testing.

Sergeant Berryhill received deployment orders in May 2010 for Operation Enduring Freedom. While on deployment Sergeant Berryhill was attached to MALS-16 (FWD) at Kandahar Airfield. During this time Sergeant Berryhill served as the 400 Division NCOIC while cross training as an Airframes mechanic. Sergeant Berryhill also held the billet of MALS-16 (FWD) Flight Line Security Manager. Sergeant Berryhill was nominated as the MALS-16 Non Commissioned Officer of the Quarter in September 2010. Upon return in November 2010 Sergeant Berryhill checked into MALS-11.

In December 2010, Sergeant Berryhill was assigned to the engine test facility work center 450. In July 2011 Sergeant Berryhill was nominated as the MALS-11 Non Commissioned Officer of the Quarter. Sergeant Berryhill was promoted to his current rank on 01 October 2011.

In February of 2012, Sergeant Berryhill was transferred to work center 41U to serve as the work center supervisor.

In May 2013, Sergeant Berryhill received orders to Drill Instructor School class 4-13 aboard MCRD San Diego. In September 2013 Sergeant Berryhill graduated Drill Instructor School and checked in to Company A, First Recruit Training Battalion.

Sergeant Berryhill is currently on his third full cycle and was also selected as the 1st Battalion Drill Instructor of the Quarter in September of 2014.

Sergeant Berryhill’s personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Navy Unit Commendation with bronze star in lieu of second award, Marine Corps Good Conduct medal with bronze star in lieu of second award..

Sergeant Berryhill is married to the former Kendra Booi and has one son Damon and two daughters Eastyn and Darci.
