Despite the lopsided final score, in favor of the Mets, it was a sort of pitchers’ duel at Petco Park last night. Cashner had electric stuff that the Mets, leading to his career-high in strikeouts, but he also made enough mistakes that he couldn’t keep pace with impressive Mets starter Jacob deGrom.

The San Diego Chargers made a profoundly bold statement by telling Pro Bowl Safety Eric Weddle that they would not engage in any sort of contract talks with him until his contract runs out at the end of the upcoming year. Dan Sileo said on Mighty 1090AM that he believes Weddle has played his last down as a Charger, and that the team will either cut him or trade him.

Chargers rookie LB Denzel Perryman created a buzz about his athleticism when people saw Marty Caswell’s video (below) from earlier this week. One person who wasn’t impressed? Chargers head coach Mike McCoy, who reported scolded the player for putting himself at injury risk.
