Sergeant George Martinez!

Sergeant Martinez was born on 16 April 1986 in Miami, Florida. He enlisted in the Marine Corps on 12 December 2005.  He attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina. After graduating recruit training he attended Marine Combat Training (MCT) at Camp Geiger, North Carolina.  Following completion of MCT he attended Military Occupation School (MOS) at Fort Leonard-wood, Missouri, for Motor Transport Operator (3531).

In June 2006, Sergeant Martinez received orders to 3D Marine Logistics Group (MLG), 9th Engineer Support Battalion, Okinawa, Japan, where he served as the Line Non-Commission Officer (NCO). In July 2006, he was promoted to the rank of Private First Class. In February 2007, he was promoted to the rank of Lance Corporal served as the Licensing NCO.  In October 2007, he was promoted to the rank of Corporal.

In July 2008, Sergeant Martinez received orders to Headquarter Battalion, 1st Marine Division, Truck Company Bravo, Camp Pendleton, California, where he served as a Line NCO. In October 2008, he was promoted to the rank of Corporal. In February 2009, he received orders to deploy to Bah aria, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 9-1, 9-2, and attached to 1st Battalion, 7th Marines, Headquarter and Service Company, as the Line NCO. In May of 2010, he was meritoriously promoted to the current rank while serving as the Line NCO and Section Chief for 2nd Platoon, Truck Company Bravo. During 2010, he was selected and won Non-Commission Officer of the quarter for Headquarter Battalion, 1st Marine Division.

In March 2011, he received orders to deploy to Sangin, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom 11-1, 11-2, and attached to 1st Battalion, 5th Marines, Headquarter and Service Company, as the Line NCO, Security Element Leader, and Section Chief. In July 2012, he received orders to Drill Instructor School class 4-12, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California. Sergeant Martinez’s personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal. Sergeant Martinez is married to Renée Dufresne.
