Chargers new kicker Josh Lambo doesn’t lack confidence as Bolts set 53-man roster

There are always a few surprises each year when teams announce their first 53-man roster. For the Chargers it was the release of  veteran Nick Novak, the second-most accurate kicker in team history (101 of 117 for a 86.3 conversion rate) and handing the job to undrafted, free agent rookie Josh Lambo, who opened some eyes with an outstanding performance versus the Arizona Cardinals in the second pre-season game.

Lambo discussed his confidence in his ability, why he didn’t come to San Diego just to be a camp leg and how being a soccer goalie has helped his mentality.

While Novak might be the most notable Chargers cut, tight end John Phillips was also a surprise release. The current  53-man roster, which features four undrafted rookie free agents,  is below as is the cuts list.
