Celebrate Military Appreciation Week with the Gulls!

San Diego Gulls faceoff

The San Diego Gulls are tied for first place, and undefeated at the Valley View Casino Center, and looking to keep up their winning ways on Friday and Saturday in San Diego. They’ll be playing the San Jose Barracuda in both games, and honoring the military and along the way.

Saturday’s game will begin with an honorary puck drop by Captain John C. Ensch. ‘Captain Jack’ accumulated over 3,000 flight hours and over 800 carrier landings during his career. He was awarded the Navy Cross, Legion of Merit (three awards), Bronze Star with Combat “V” (two awards), Purple Heart (two awards), Meritorious Service Medal (three awards), Air Medal (18 awards), Navy Commendation Medal with Combat “V” (three awards), Prisoner of War Medal, Combat Action Ribbon and numerous other individual, unit and service awards.

With the help of many local business partners, the San Diego Gulls will be able to provide tickets, at no cost, to over 2,000 military members for Saturday’s “Salute to Heroes” event. JMG SECURITY SYSTEMS, a team partner, was the first to join the Salute to Heroes, and was joined by Pacific Premier Bank, The Coca-Cola Company, Wawanesa Insurance, La Jolla Oral and Facial Surgery, Boulder OMS, Anheuser-Busch, IHOP, Winter Group, Inc. and an anonymous donor all supporting our nation’s military by each purchasing a minimum of 250 tickets to be donated to those who serve and their families.

In addition, the Gulls’ home rink, Valley View Casino Center, also signed on as a participating partner in the Salute to Heroes and Military Appreciation Week, and has offered free parking to anyone with a military ID for Wednesday and Saturday’s games. The USS Midway Aircraft Carrier will also participate, and has offered free admission through the end of the calendar year to anyone with a ticket stub from Saturday’s Salute to Heroes game.

Friday night’s game will feature $2 Bud Light drafts from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. and the tailgate for Saturday night’s matchup will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m.

There are limited tickets left but you can get yours right here.
