REPORT: Padres to name Mark McGwire as Bench Coach

Former Los Angeles Dodgers hitting coach Mark McGwire

There have been rumors for a few days that San Diego Padres Manager Andy Green was trying to lure former Los Angeles Dodgers Hitting Coach Mark McGwire south to take over the job as the Padres’ Bench Coach. Now, at least according to a report by CBS Sports, it would appear that the two sides have agreed on a contract and that the former Home Run King will indeed be coming to San Diego.

How do you feel about the move? Does this make the Padres better, or is there another candidate out there that would have been better? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
