Chargers to retain Mike McCoy

San Diego Chargers head coach Mike McCoy

In an open letter to the San Diego Chargers fans, Team President John Spanos announced confident in the team’s General Manager and Head Coach.

I have the utmost confidence in our leadership. Tom Telesco, Mike McCoy, and I have already begun evaluating every aspect of the team to take the essential steps to put a winning product back on the field. We will waste no time in making the necessary changes.

Despite reports that Mike McCoy would be fired at the end of the team’s 2015 season, after finishing 4-12, this seems to cement McCoy’s place in the future of the team. 2016 is the final year of the contract he originally signed with the team before the 2013 season.

How do you have confidence in a coach that can’t win games? 4-12 and you have confidence in your coach? Maybe Spanos just wants to have the coach on his side when they have the entire city of San Diego wanting their heads after leaving San Diego for Carson
