Chargers to play in San Diego in 2016

According to our own Kevin Acee, the San Diego Chargers have reached an agreement in principle with the Los Angeles Rams regarding the two teams sharing a stadium in Inglewood.

The Chargers have until January 15, 2017, to announce they are moving or lose their spot in Los Angeles to the Oakland Raiders.. They have until the middle of March to decide if they will play in San Diego or Los Angeles for the upcoming 2016 season. If the Chargers get a San Diego stadium initiative on the ballot this year, that deadline could be extended to 2018 to allow for legal challenges or a second election.

In a statement on, team owner Dean Spanos announced that the San Diego Chargers will play at Qualcomm Stadium for the 2016 NFL season and will work towards a long-term stadium solution with the City of San Diego.

This news was expected. Just another step towards L.A., but not necessarily a step away from San Diego. I remain optimistic.
