Chin Up, Player

I’m sure it’s some sort of  NCAA violation, but I wish I could take the Boston College hoops team out to dinner. I could take them to Red Lobster and it would be their best moment of the season.

That’s what BC big man Dennis Clifford says. This dude’s gone viral for making the whole world want to hug him and hook him up with grub.

Boston College got housed by FSU in the first round of the ACC Tourney, tagging an incredible 0-19 record in conference play. They’re like the 08 Detroit Lions of the ACC.  Never mind taking out the big dogs like Duke or UNC…. The Golden Eagles couldn’t so much as eek out 1 win on their home floor against Wake or NC State. And even worse for a senior like Clifford, his college career ends with 85 losses in 4 years.

So somebody asked the kid last night about his fondest memory looking back, he choked up badly, and could only muster this:

I feel for the kid. Every year around this time, we end up seeing some college student crying because his dreams were shattered. But it’s because he lost some heart breaking tournament game. This poor dude couldn’t even win a single conference game.

Fondest memory-  Playing against future NBA stars? Going into Cameron Indoor? Nah, going into TGI Fridays with my guys.

Listen Cliff, that’s not all that bad. What do all the ex-athletes say they miss the most? The times with their teammates. The boys hanging out, bonding. Sure, it would have been great to beat somebody like Georgia Tech or Clemson once… But I bet you guys had a helluva time smashing that Awesome Blossom back in Sophomore year right?

Maybe the saddest part is – as Deadspin points out – BC was the team that got all E-Coli’d earlier this season from Chipotle. Half the basketball team got sick from going out to eat… And it was STILL the best memory from four years.

My man, Cliff… Look me up after you graduate. I can’t get you into March Madness, but I’ll hook you up with Javier’s. And that’s better than anything I know.  Even March Madness. Chin up, player

Bad Take, ODB

Odell Beckham Jr is a playmaker. But he’s convinced himself that he’s also a star maker. And he’s wrong. Speaking to GQ, it actually sounds like he’s taking credit for Josh Norman’s career, quote: “The reason he’s

Jets v. Fitzfatrick

This is as Jets as it gets. Less than a week from now, they’ll be on the practice field. And it looks like their alleged starting quarterback will be on the golf course. That’s where Ryan Fitzpatrick is
