Third base is maybe the thinnest spot on the San Diego Padres roster. Besides Adam Rosales, who came in to replace Yangervis Solarte, there may not be anyone else on the major-league squad that can adequately play the position.
We’ll have to wait and see how bad Solarte’s injury is, but a long-term absence from him would likely require GM A.J. Preller to make a move to bring in someone that could hopefully replace Solarte’s offense and defense.
For the season, Solarte is batting .375 with an on-base percentage of .473.
