It’s never good to hear that your team’s ace is headed to the DL, especially after just one start by Tyson Ross, but it appears that the player and the San Diego Padres feel as though this is a minor injury that will be healed with a couple weeks of rest.

James Shields is expected to start in Ross’ place tomorrow at the Colorado Rockies, and lefties Brad Hand and Robbie Erlin both have starting experience and have recently been added to the roster. It’s not crazy to think that one of them could get a start or two in place of Ross before his return.
