As the San Diego Chargers look for funding and approval for a downtown stadium in San Diego, which would be tied to the project of noncontiguous expansion of the San Diego Convention Center, the team has released renderings of the stadium. Check them out by clicking the link!

Gulls start the playoffs with 3-1 win over Stars – San Diego Union-Tribune
The Stars — who outscored the Gulls by 15 goals during their five wins against them this season — outshot the Gulls 29 to 17 on Thursday, but Anton Khudobin only let one of those shots — off the stick of Texas center Justin Dowling in the second period — beat him. Khudobin, a veteran who was a major reason for the Gulls’ second-half surge this season, stood strong and stopped 28 shots.

Ross will not require surgery on shoulder –
Padres Opening Day starter Tyson Ross will not require surgery on his injured right shoulder, but it doesn’t appear he’ll be ready to return to the mound soon.

The right-hander, who made one start before landing on the disabled list retroactive to April 5, underwent an MRI on the shoulder, and the results reached the Padres during Thursday’s game — an 11-1 loss to Pittsburgh. Manager Andy Green said afterward that he didn’t have enough information to give an exact diagnosis.

Jemile Weeks hopes to make statement in return to Big Leagues with Padres
San Diego Padres Infielder Jemile Weeks had a strong Spring Training but ultimately didn’t make the Padres to start the season. With Cory Spangenberg’s placement on the 15-Day DL, Weeks was promoted from Triple-A El Paso and hopes to seize the opportunity at hand.


Padres place Erlin on DL with left elbow strain –
A rough week on the Padres’ injury front got worse Thursday, as the club placed left-hander Robbie Erlin on the 15-day disabled list with a left elbow strain.

The Padres recalled right-handed reliever Leonel Campos from Triple-A El Paso, but it remains unclear who will start in Erlin’s place on Saturday against St. Louis.
