I’ve refereed to years of border skirmishes with our friends up in Canada. I know a thing or two about what they hate: War mongering, American Obesity, and Dwyane Wade.
The Great White North is going in on Way of Wade after he put himself through a private shoot around during the playing of the Canadian National Anthem.
American’s are under this false impression that Canadian’s won’t fight. Just because they’re not a bunch “Likes to Fight Guys” – doesn’t mean they’re “Won’t Fight Guys”. Huge difference and some of them want to fight Wade for continuing to shoot and warm-up while “Oh Canada” played.
It is a bush league move to shoot during a national anthem, so just give a sincere My Bad and move on right, WOW? “I’m not a disrespectful person. IF anyone thinks I’m being disrespectful to their country then they have no idea who Dwyane Wade is.”
First you diss Canada with your warmup, then you diss the rest of the world by going third person on yourself in your non-apology. Jim Rome says that’s really lame, and Jim Rome says the only thing lamer is your attempt to blame it on the clock. “Everything started a little later than it did when we were in Canada for games 1 and 2. It started at 12:30 on the clock.”
Dude- you hear the song? Stop shooting. You’ve got 12 teammates standing there in line with their hands behind their backs. Why are you still launching jumpers.
And that’s my favorite excuse, the one coming from the AP that says Wade always likes to make his last shot of warms up, so he kept shooting into the anthem because he kept bricking them.
Sure, everybody likes to swish that last shot on the driveway before they go into dinner. But when there’s 20,000 people standing for the anthem, and you’re the most famous guy in the arena- it’s not the time to remind them you’re a “volume shooter.”
And maybe you move in a bit, WOW? If you can’t hit a shot until they’re halfway through Oh Canada, – probably should move into the paint for a few gimmes to wrap things up.
Doing anything other than standing up and shutting up for the anthem is a bag move.
I expect it from the drunk fan who doesn’t take his hat off. I expect it from the d-bag south Florida courtsider who won’t get off his phone. But Jim Rome doesn’t expect it from the face of the chise in his 13th year in the league.
WOW, on behalf of all of Canada, stop shooting and show some respect for 60 records. It’s We Stand on Guard for Thee. Not we keep on jacking 3s.
