Chargers sign veretan OL Matt Slauson

Matt Slauson

The San Diego Chargers were in desperate need of help along the offensive line after last season. The team finished dead last in rushing and got Philip Rivers sacked 40 times.

While the team moved on to a new Offensive Line Coach and a new Assistant Offensive Line Coach, and that should help matters, they’ve also started adding talented players to the group.

Last week, the team drafted Max Tuerk out of USC to be their Center of the future. However, Tuerk is recovering from knee surgery and the jury is out on if he’d be ready to be the team’s starting Center in 2016.

Today, the Chargers announced that they had officially signed veteran Guard and Center Matt Slauson, who was released last week by the Chicago Bears. In addition to providing depth to the interior of the line, which suffered many injuries last season, Slauson is expected to at least compete for the starting Center position at Chargers Training Camp this summer.

This is a GREAT signing. Excellent. Might be the key signing of the offseason for Chargers’ GM Tom Telesco.
