Padres designate Blash for assignment, call up Friedrich

Jabari Blash

Since Jabari Blash is a Rule 5 draftee, this move would send the young outfielder back to his previous team unless a trade is worked out between that team and the Padres.

In 29 regular season plate appearances with the Padres, Blash batted .120 with an OBP of .241. Despite having plenty of power, he will finish his time in San Diego without a home run.

Christian Friedrich is a 28 year old left-handed starting pitcher with a 4.66 ERA in two starts with the El Paso Chihuahuas. He had previously been a part of the Colorado Rockies, where he had a 5-16 record as both a starter and a bullpen arm.
