Jim Kelly talks playoffs, Rex Ryan, and more on The Jim Rome Show

The Buffalo Bills are currently sitting on the longest NFL playoff drought at 16 years. Buffalo’s former quarterback and Hall of Famer Jim Kelly joined The Jim Rome Show on Thursday and said the biggest key to ending that drought is staying healthy.

“On paper, yeah, we look great, and we should be a very good team, but you cannot go to the playoffs, you cannot win championships when you’re spending most of your time in the training room,” Kelly said.

Kelly, who led the organization to the playoffs eight times in 11 seasons, said the key Bills players can’t afford to miss a lot of time if the franchise is going to be successful.

“Tyrod Taylor, he’s got to stay healthy. We cannot afford for your top quarterback to go down and miss a quarter of the games or half the season,” Kelly said. “Your top players, your starters that make a difference on defense, those guys got to stay on the football field. They can’t be on the injured reserve list.”

However, the first ballot Hall of Famer made it clear he believes there’s enough talent on the roster to make the playoffs.

“I know Eric Wood. I know some of those guys that play on both sides of the football very well. We got a heck of a football team, but you can’t win if you’re not on the football field competing and playing,” Kelly said. “So I just hope we stay healthy, because if we do and we don’t make it, there’s no excuses whatsoever. I think we have the team to do it, I hope we do, I’m excited about this year.”

However if the Bills fall short of the postseason for a 17th consecutive year, Kelly added, “I think Rex [Ryan] will probably be looking for another job. I think everybody knows that including Rex.”

Bad Take, ODB

Odell Beckham Jr is a playmaker. But he’s convinced himself that he’s also a star maker. And he’s wrong. Speaking to GQ, it actually sounds like he’s taking credit for Josh Norman’s career, quote: “The reason he’s

Jets v. Fitzfatrick

This is as Jets as it gets. Less than a week from now, they’ll be on the practice field. And it looks like their alleged starting quarterback will be on the golf course. That’s where Ryan Fitzpatrick is
