I.V. Is Coming To Omaha

I just have to be real. I’m broadcasting from right here in SoCal, but my heart’s already in Omaha. That’s where the University of California, Santa Barbara freaking Gauchos are headed to play in the College World Series.

From the Pacific Coast, to Eastern Nebraska, by way of Hollywood. That’s what UCSB baseball just pulled off…, pure Hollywood against second seeded Louisville to punch their ticket.

How do you get to your first ever College World Series? Easy – with a backup freshman who had just 26 at-bats the entire season.

Louisville up 3-0 in the bottom of the 9th, UCSB with the bags packed, and a pinch hitter comes up to bat, against arguably the best closer in the country; a guy who had been taken in the first round of the MLB draft just a few days earlier. A dude who was running it up there 100+. And a guy who jumped ahead in the count 1-2… Gaucho frosh Sam Cohen, I couldn’t’ be any prouder if you were my own son. Because after this, I feel like you are.

START THE PARTY. THAT’S A WALK-OFF.

A WALK-OFF SLAM TO SEND THE MIGHTY GAUCHOS TO THE COLLEGE WORLD SERIES FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER! WHERE ARE THE KEGS AND COUCHES??

Sam Cohen pulled grand salami to dead right off first round draft pick Zack Burdi. Guy’s like the Mariano Rivera of college ball. He’s going to be pitching against Bryce Harper someday. And he got jumped by Sam freaking Cohen yesterday.

Understand- this isn’t some kid playing for Clemson, or Fullerton, or LSU or Arizona. He plays for Santa Barbara. If I’m talking about my alma mater in the news, it’s usually because they scrapped a 15 seed in the NCAA tournament and they’re about to get their doors blown off by 30 in the first round. This is our Rocky Balboa moment.

I don’t care if you are a Gaucho, if you hate the Gauchos, or like most of the country – you have never even heard of the Gauchos, this is bigger than the Gauchos. This is one of the coolest moments college baseball has ever seen. I honestly was considering hopping in my car and driving straight to campus just to jump into the party.

And I will add my man Sam to the list of UCSB legends: Michael Douglas, Benjamin Bratt, Brian Shaw, Jack Johnson, Harvey Levin, and Slammin’ Sammy Cohen.

Damn it feels good to be a Gaucho. I.V. is coming to Omaha. I’m proud of you kid; that was one of the finest moments in UCSB history. Freaking goosebumps. Sammy.

Bad Take, ODB

Odell Beckham Jr is a playmaker. But he’s convinced himself that he’s also a star maker. And he’s wrong. Speaking to GQ, it actually sounds like he’s taking credit for Josh Norman’s career, quote: “The reason he’s

Jets v. Fitzfatrick

This is as Jets as it gets. Less than a week from now, they’ll be on the practice field. And it looks like their alleged starting quarterback will be on the golf course. That’s where Ryan Fitzpatrick is
