In a surprising move the day before the NBA Draft, the New York Knicks have agreed to acquire former MVP, Derrick Rose. The Chicago Bulls will get Center Robin Lopez, Guard Jose Calderon, and one of last year’s 1st round draft picks, Jerian Grant.
Rose, relatively still young at the age of 27, has struggled to get back to his 2011 MVP form after suffering an ACL tear in the 2012 playoffs. Rose has been limited to only 50% of the Bulls games over the last 4 seasons. This past season Rose averaged 16.4 PPG, and 4.7 APG in only 66 games. The Chicago Bulls drafted the SouthSide Chicago native back in 2008 with the number 1 pick.
The New York Knicks have been active since missing the playoffs, Hiring former NBA player and Former Phoenix Suns head coach, Jeff Hornacek, and now pulling off this blockbuster deal. Look for New York to become big players this summer in free agency now that they have a big 3 to build around with Derrick Rose, Carmelo Anthony, and Rookie standout Kristaps Porzingis.
