Padres minor-leaguers Renfroe, Asuaje, Margot selected for Futures Game

Hunter Renfroe

Today, Major League Baseball announced the rosters for the 2016 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game, which will be played on Sunday, July 10 at Petco Park in San Diego.

Included on the USA roster is outfielder Hunter Renfroe, a 24-year old Mississippi native that is currently playing with the Triple-A El Paso Chihuahuas.

Included on the World roster is both outfielder Manuel Margot and infielder Carlos Asuaje, two prospects that the San Diego Padres received from the Boston Red Sox in exchange for Craig Kimbrel earlier this offseason. Margot is thought to be the best prospect the team received in the deal, and you can see why, with him making the Futures game at 21 years old (Asuaje, like Renfroe, is 24 years old).

Margot will be representing the Dominican Republic, while Asuaje will represent his native Venezuela. Like Renfroe, Margot and Asuaje are currently playing for the Triple-A El Paso Chiahuahuas.

The team’s lone representative in the Futures Game in 2015 was Colin Rea.
