If you close your eyes, you can almost feel yourself right there inside the conference rooms for teams’ brainstorming sessions. You know the ones. They’re all having them.

I’m talking about the sessions where they spitball ideas for how they can engage their fans on social media.

There’s coffee. There’s a huge grease board. And there’s a prevailing motto: “THERE ARE NO BAD IDEAS.”

Of course, that’s not true. There ARE bad ideas. Lots of them. And asking your fans to weigh-in on twitter with their thoughts on your offseason – especially if you had the offseason the Magic have had, is a terrible idea.

If you’re going to do that, you better have had a BADASS offseason. You better have landed LeBron. Or your fans are going to start landing punches.

Take the Orlando Magic. Puzzling offseason in which they dealt fan favorite and future star Victor Oladipo. And their coach Scott Skiles quit. They brought in Serge Ibaka and Bismack Biyombo. So they’ve got a lot of size protecting the rim. And not much talent attacking it.

Sure enough- they took the Twitter over the weekend and hit Magic fans with “Describe our off season in 3 words. #2016in3words.”

Well, start with the good news. Well scratch that. There is none. Now let me give the bad news in the form this topic’s greatest hits.

#2016in3words “Horrible Life Decisions.”  “Failed free agency”  “Good future ruined” ” “2017 Lottery Team” “100 percent trash”

Big deal though, right social media team? There’s always a few knuckle heads who make things negative. Just keep scrolling and let’s find some good ones to retweet.  “Thunder robbed you.” Keep Scrolling. “Fire everybody now.”  Keep SCROLLING. “You guys suck”.

And that point you just slam the lap top shut and head straight to the bar.

Again –  I know everybody’s looking to integrate social media. I get it. But you don’t want to just ask the fans to give their opinions… Unless you give them something to have very positive opinions about. And the Magic didn’t.

The Redskins and Ravens’ twitter pilots can’t believe you just tossed out “give us three words” to your fans. Unless your team just won a ring, and its stacked to make a run at another – here’s my three words when you’re thinking about asking for opinions on twitter: DON’T DO IT.

The Orlando Magic just had the worst look on Twitter since… Magic.

Bad Take, ODB

Odell Beckham Jr is a playmaker. But he’s convinced himself that he’s also a star maker. And he’s wrong. Speaking to GQ, it actually sounds like he’s taking credit for Josh Norman’s career, quote: “The reason he’s

Jets v. Fitzfatrick

This is as Jets as it gets. Less than a week from now, they’ll be on the practice field. And it looks like their alleged starting quarterback will be on the golf course. That’s where Ryan Fitzpatrick is
