We had heard on Saturday that the San Diego Chargers had lost both TE Jeff Cumberland and OG Donovan Clark to injury during their 19-3 preseason win over the Arizona Cardinals. Now, the team has officially placed both men on their “Injured-Reserve” list, showing that they don’t expect either to recover from their injuries this season.

Cumberland signed with the team in April, coming off a career as a strong backup for the New York Jets. Performing well in Training Camp, he was expected to be the team’s 3rd TE behind Antonio Gates and Hunter Henry this season. He suffered a torn Achilles late in the first half on Saturday.

Clark was seen as a versatile offensive lineman that the Chargers picked in the 7th round of the 2016 NFL Draft, but he really excelled as a backup Guard during Chargers Training Camp this year. A torn ACL in the third quarter against the Cardinals will likely sideline him until Training Camp next year.
