Chargers RB Danny Woodhead out for season with torn ACL

San Diego Chargers RB Danny Woodhead

The San Diego Chargers, who lost Keenan Allen to a season-ending injury in their Week 1 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, are once again dealing with a loss of a major offensive playmaker today.

Danny Woodhead, who injured his knee while being tackled in yesterday’s win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, has been diagnosed with a torn ACL. He will miss the rest of the season recovering from the injury. As a free agent this upcoming offseason, Woodhead may have played his last down as a Charger.

Woodhead lead the Chargers in receptions in 2015, at 30 years old, and was seen as a vital asset to the offense and special teams. The Chargers will undoubtedly be working out free agent Running Backs in hopes of replacing Woodhead.

In 2014, Woodhead missed all but three games with an ankle injury.
