The San Diego Chargers have already dealt with a large number of season-ending injuries this year.
Branden Oliver, Keenan Allen, Danny Woodhead, Stevie Johnson, Donovan Clark, Jeff Cumberland, Sean Lissemore and Manti Te’o have all been placed on the team’s Injured-Reserve with serious lower-body injuries.
Fans were hoping that, although the Chargers lost to the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, that they had at least escaped without another season-ending injury. Unfortunately, it sounds like bad news may be coming for the team’s best and most important player on defense…
The Chargers were already missing starting Cornerback Brandon Flowers last week, the result of a concussion the week before, and can not handle another injury at the same position without it severely impairing their ability to slow down opposing Wide Receivers.
San Diego is already ranked 27th in terms of passing yards allowed per game this season, and that is with Jason Verrett, who is considered to be one of the top Cornerbacks in the league. If it turns out that he has to miss an extensive period of time, such as the rest of the season, it may not be possible for the team to recover from the tailspin that they are currently in.
