Depleted Aztecs host USD in hoops opener – San Diego Union-Tribune
The Aztecs teammates relived the 53-48 loss in the film room this week. “Real hard to watch,” Hemsley said. “Just seeing that score and seeing how much they were up by, ugh, it feels terrible.”

Friday night, then, they get a chance to cut some new scenes, hosting the Toreros at sold out Viejas Arena in the season opener for both teams (8 p.m, The Mighty 1090AM). The Aztecs are still impossibly depleted, with seven fully healthy scholarship players and without Malik Pope, Matt Shrigley, Max Hoetzel or Ben Perez.

Bejarano, 34, is the defending riding champion of the 15-day Bing Crosby Season. He also has won or shared the last five summer titles, finishing in a tie during the most recent meeting with Flavien Prat.

The Mighty 1090 will be there with wall to wall coverage, with Darren Smith starting our coverage at noon and Scott and BR taking over starting at 3. In addition to the live broadcast, we will also have Toys for Tots on hand. Participants can bring a new, unwrapped children’s toy to the event and that toy will go towards making a child smile on Christmas day.
