At one point, Chris Watt was drafted out of Notre Dame with a 3rd round pick and the expectation of eventually taking over the mantle of long-term Center for the San Diego Chargers in the model of Nick Hardwick.
That has, unfortunately, not come to pass. The team seemingly moved on from Watt after numerous injuries kept him from playing a significant role in 2014 and 2015, drafted Max Tuerk in 2016 and signing Matt Slauson after he was released by the Chicago Bears.
Today, it appears the team has officially moved on from Watt, as they are expected to release him with a failed physical designation. That, essentially, means that the player is not healthy enough to play, even after spending the preseason and the first ten weeks of the regular season on the Physically Unable to Perform list.
