Roger Goodell: “Dean Spanos did everything he could.”

After the official statement from the Chargers earlier today that they will be relocating from San Diego to Los Angeles this offseason, ending a 56-year legacy as the San Diego Chargers to become the Los Angeles Chargers once again, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell released a statement of his own in support of Dean Spanos and the Chargers:

While many will disagree with the notion that Dean Spanos and his family did everything they could to try and find a viable solution in San Diego, committing to spending more on a relocation fee than they were willing to put towards new stadium construction in San Diego, the decision has been made and there’s nothing more that can be done.

It is possible that the Oakland Raiders, who have teased the notion of moving to Las Vegas, would decide to push for a move to San Diego instead to take advantage of their Southern California fanbase.
