Darren Smith – About
Introducing Darren Smith
Darren Smith began at The Mighty 1090 when the station first launched in March of 2003 and has survived several station name changes and time slots.
Darren began his (paid) career as a producer at ESPN Radio in Bristol, CT. Working his way from hourly associate producer to Dan Patrick’s radio producer in less than a year, Darren has covered the biggest events in sports including the World Series, Super Bowls, NBA Finals, College Bowl games and Final Four.
As a student broadcaster at St. John’s University, Darren served as Sports Director of WSJU Radio while also acting as Sports Editor of the student newspaper. Highlighting Smith’s career was his call of SJU’s first National Championship when the men’s soccer team cut down the net in 1996.
A native San Diegan and proud graduate of San Diego State, Marty’s passion for sports,
especially the Padres and Chargers, and refusal to essentially take NO for an answer has made her one of the most well-known and dominant sports producers in Southern California. (And gotten her into a lot of trouble as well.)
Athletes, coaches, managers, GM’s, and agents? They have no chance- she will hustle them all. If you’re looking to hear from THE biggest names in sports, tune in to The Mighty 1090 Sports Radio during The Darren Smith Show with Marty Caswell.
