Which Padres players attacked the Crazy Crab?

The story about the San Francisco Giants’ short-lived anti-mascot, the Crazy Crab, is legendary. Here’s a short documentary explaining this odd story, and its odd ending:

The Crab was tackled by two Padres players in August of 1984, and his career was over. He sued the Padres and they settled out of court for $2,000. Ever since, the identities of these two Padres miscreants have been a mystery. Until now.

Kurt Bevacqua, a member of the ’84 Padres, revealed the secret after questioning from Craig Elsten on the air. WARNING: this mystery has a shocking and hilarious twist at the end!
