Saturday, January 18 at 10:30 a.m – JERRY COLEMAN MEMORIAL SERVICE

SAN DIEGO – On behalf of the Coleman family, the San Diego Padres today announced a free, public memorial service for Jerry Coleman will be held on Saturday, January 18 at 10:30 a.m. at Petco Park. Gates will open at 9:30 a.m. Fans may enter through the East Village gate on 10th Ave. or the Park Boulevard gate on Park Blvd.

The event will celebrate Coleman’s extraordinary life, and will feature special guests from throughout his lifetime.  Free parking will be provided in three locations: two surface lots along Imperial Avenue (Parcel C lot and Tailgate lot) on the southeast side of Petco Park, and the Padres Parkade garage (10th Ave at J St).

For those who would like to make a donation in Jerry’s memory, the Coleman family suggests the Semper Fi Fund (www.semperfifund.org). The Semper Fi Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, was created by a group of Marine Corps spouses nine years ago to provide immediate financial assistance and lifetime support for injured and critically ill members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families.

Coach John Kentera will begin coverage at 10:00 AM, followed by live coverage of the ceremony from 10:30 AM – 12:00 Noon.  Then Coach will host a show from 12:00 Noon – 1:00 PM.

The Mighty 1090 joins the entire San Diego  Community and baseball fans everywhere in mourning the loss of a true hero and legend, Jerry Coleman.  Jerry was a huge part of the Mighty 1090 broadcast family for many years and we are all deeply saddened by his passing. We send our deepest sympathies to the Coleman family as we plan to pay a broadcast tribute to Jerry over the next several days.

Jerry Coleman Has Passed Away

STATEMENT FROM THE SAN DIEGO PADRES ON THE PASSING OF JERRY COLEMAN
“The San Diego Padres are deeply saddened by the news today of the passing of Jerry Coleman. We send our heartfelt sympathy to the entire Coleman family, including his wife, Maggie, his children and grandchildren. On behalf of Padres’ fans everywhere, we mourn the loss of a Marine who was truly an American hero as well as a great man, a great friend and a great Padre.”

The Padres announce that the Jerry Coleman statue will remain open until 11:30 p.m. tonight for fans who would like to pay their respects. Fans may enter through the East Village Gate at Petco Park.
