SAN DIEGO, Calif, Jan. 2007 -- The Race & Sports Radio Show, a fixture on Saturday and Sunday mornings on KOGO 600 AM since 1999, will move to XX Sports Radio (XPRS 1090 AM / 105.7 FM) and a new weekend time slot beginning Jan. 6, it was announced today by the programs executive producer and long time host, Felix Taverna.  Race & Sports Radio, which began in 1995 in Las Vegas as the Thoroughbred Hotline, will move from its familiar 7-8:00 a.m. slot to a new hourly schedule beginning at 9:00 a.m. PT each Saturday and Sunday morning on San Diego’s all-sports station, the home of the San Diego Padres; The program also will be streamed live at . 

“I have had a great relationship with everyone over there at KOGO, but the opportunity to air our show in the nine o’clock hour on a 24-hour sports station (XX Sports Radio 1090 AM / 105.7 FM) was too good to pass”, said Taverna”.   The time slot was the key factor; I am excited about bringing the radio program to XX Sports Radio and working with CEO of the station John Lynch and everyone else at our new home”.

Taverna, who’s built up a large and loyal audience, added that he expects a lot more cross promotion between his show and XX Sports Radio than he received at KOGO. Race & Sports Radio covers the best racing action and sports highlights from coast to coast - from California to New York and all points in between. Each week Taverna teams up with contributing correspondents around the country to discuss and handicap the major stakes races at tracks such as Belmont Park, Gulfstream, Churchill Downs, Arlington Park, Santa Anita, Hollywood Park, and Taverna’s home track of Del Mar.  The program also discusses the hottest sports action in college and professional sports.
