THIRD AND LONG... THE GAME PLAN March 5, 2010, 12:11 pm After the session with Dr. ZAP! I’m feeling pretty good, you know, as well as you can with what ZAP!

THIRD AND LONG… THE HEAD COACH March 2, 2010, 4:44 pm Now that Dr. Feelup believes the cancer hasn’t spread out of my prostate, he wants me to see the Radiation People before we decide what the game plan’s going to be.

THIRD AND LONG…. SUCK IT UP! By AGuy@xx1090sandiego.com February 19, 2010, 1:01 pm Diagnosed with prostate cancer after some VERY rude examinations, I’m waiting for Dr. Feelup to call with results from the most recent tests to see if the cancer has spread.
|
Third and Long...The Training Room February 12, 2010, 3:35 pm I’m still kind of numb from the visit with Dr. Feelup; still trying to figure out why, with 6-1 odds against it, I come up short on the line and get prostate cancer. Comments

Third and Long...SACKED! February 5, 2010, 4:05 pm It’s been just over a week since Dora The Explorer did her biopsy thing during the Backside Dive Play and I’m tired of waiting to find out the results. Do I have prostate cancer or not? She said someone would call me in a week to ten days, and I’m getting impatient.

Third and Long...the Backside Dive February 1, 2010, 9:11 am It’s the day before Thanksgiving, 6am, and I’m getting prepped for a biopsy at the VA Hospital. Someone’s going to run a tube up there where the sun doesn’t shine, push a needle through the tube, punch a hole in the wall of my bowl and take samples from my prostate gland to see if I have cancer. Happy Thanksgiving! I’ve been waiting a month since it was scheduled, a month full of anxiety, denial and anger over maybe being the one in six American men to be diagnosed with it.

Third and Long...Fear and Anger January 22, 2010, 12:18 pm So my PSA level’s up, Dora The Explorer’s done the rubber gloves/KY jelly thing and I’m scheduled for a biopsy to find out what’s going on with my prostate gland. I’m still thinking this is no big deal, but I have to tell my wife because she’s going to want to know what happened at the consultation. Comments

Third and Long...the Sack Attack January 15, 2010, 12:15 pm Last summer I was walking out of the grocery store and noticed a guy grilling hot dogs next to a sign that said “Prostate Cancer Fundraiser”. I winced, thinking “Geez! Grilling hot dogs? Couldn’t they have come up with something a little more, you know, positive?” Gives you the willies just THINKING about it!

Third and Long...the Preface January 13, 2010, 1:57 pm Last year, according to the National Cancer Institute, an estimated 192,280 American men were diagnosed with prostate cancer. An estimated 27,360 men died from it. The disease is usually found in men over the age of 64, but can strike earlier. The five year survival rate is 100% if the cancer is caught while still confined to the prostate gland. But if it has moved out of the gland, the five year survival rate can drop to 33% or worse. No one knows exactly what causes it, and usually the cancer is discovered during the course of treating other medical problems.
