As early as Feb. 9, the city’s golf division is expected to begin a $14 million renovation of the South Course’s irrigation system, as well as all of the bunkers, tees and areas surrounding the greens. According to Mark Marney, the city’s golf manager, the work is scheduled to carry on through the end of September, and it will have a significant impact on how golfers experience the course that hosted the 2008 U.S. Open and is preparing for a return of that major championship in June 2021.
