Respect always to Trotter and his insight, but I think he misses two key points. First, perhaps the Hall of Fame/NFL cancelled deceased player speeches partially due to the expectation that more players would be dying young. Second, the player base is going to shrink. Not substantially from today’s NFL, but from the parents withholding football from their kids. They could be like me, where I have abandoned all affection for the NFL after 4 decades of devotion, but more likely parents will steer their children more and more away from football. There are other sports. Millions and a dream to be made elsewhere, plus you’ll get the opportunity to enjoy it after retirement.
